How to Be Women of Wisdom
It seems the days are fewer, that women of wisdom are rising up and pouring into younger women of faith.
I’d like to change that trend.
Don’t get me wrong. Younger women have SO much to teach us, and SO much life to pour into us. I never want to dismiss their contagious vitality and new, exciting ways of doing things!
But I also want to be faithful to be a woman of wisdom in the lives of young wives, mothers, and friends. As I get older (and older!), I realize how many timeless truths there are that need to be both taught and caught!
To be women of wisdom, we need to cling to God’s unchanging Word.
Life experience, and knowledge can only go so far. Misperceptions of things can sometimes lead us astray. But God’s Word will never mislead us! Full of life, wisdom, and understanding, we need to cling to His Word as women of wisdom.
We need to spend enormous amounts of time seeking God’s will.
It’s not in the hurried, fleeting moments that we find deeper communion with God. Seeking His will in all things is a full-time commitment. And the more time we spend, asking for wisdom, praying for understanding, and relying on His will, the better prepared we will be to pour into another person’s life.
We need to embrace opportunities to share Godly wisdom with others.
Yes, life experiences add to our well of wisdom. After all, each of us has been on a unique journey with individual challenges. However, experience by itself is not what makes us Godly women of wisdom. It’s the continuous seeking, learning, praying, and pouring out that ages us gracefully and wholly into women of wisdom.
If you’re sensing God might be wanting you to rise up as a woman of wisdom and pour into others, here are a few Biblical steps to get you started.
Turn James 1:5-8 into a personal prayer of asking and believing.
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
James 1:5-8
Pray specifically for those God might be asking you to pour into.
Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.
1 John 5:14-15
View wisdom less as an option and more as an essential.
Happy is the man who finds wisdom,
Proverbs 3:13-18
And the man who gains understanding;
For her proceeds are better than the profits of silver,
And her gain than fine gold.
She is more precious than rubies,
And all the things you may desire cannot compare with her.
Length of days is in her right hand,
In her left hand riches and honor.
Her ways are ways of pleasantness,
And all her paths are peace.
She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her,
And happy are all who retain her.
Sisters, you have so much to give! Allow God to work through you! Be the woman of wisdom God created you to be!
Grateful to be on this journey with you,
Jennifer
