Let’s Go to the Other Side
“Let us go across to the other side.”
~Jesus (Mark 4:35)
Must I, Lord? Go across to the other side?
I’m comfortable here.
I’m used to this way of doing things.
I don’t know what I’ll find on the other side.
“Let us go across to the other side.”
To the other side of what? Where do you want me to go, Lord?
To the other side of complacency, fear, and wandering.
To the place of My purpose, My plan, My will.
But, Lord, people are counting on me.
People will be disappointed.
People won’t understand, Lord.
People…
“And a great windstorm arose, and the waves were breaking into the boat
so that the boat was already filling.” (Mark 4: 37)
See, God, I knew there would be tumultuous times.
I knew it would be safer to stay back there.
At least I knew what to expect!
“But He was in the stern, asleep on the cushion.
And they woke Him and said to Him,
“Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?” (Mark 4:38)
I know you care, God. It’s Who You are. But I’m still afraid.
Still out of my comfort zone.
Still wondering what’s ahead.
I don’t like waves, Lord. Does anyone like waves?
He said to them, “Why are you so afraid?
Have you still no faith?” (Mark 4:40)
Lord, help Thou my unbelief!
In rain and storm. In the rocking boat.
I want unwavering faith, God! Please, quiet my soul within me!
Call me again, to go out on the water.
Invite me into the boat. Ask me to follow.
I love You.
“[He] said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!”
And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.” (Mark 4:39)
Peace.
Be still.
Ok, Lord.
Somehow I knew…I knew that You would calm the winds of change. I knew that You would straighten what was crooked, mend what was broken, and comfort the troubles of my heart.
Ok, Lord.
I’m ready.
Ready to go with You…to the other side.

Even though this journey will continue to be uncertain and challenging, I also am ready to go with Jesus to the other side and make the most of His purpose for my life. I’m looking forward in taking this journey along with you and others in Christ in a strong faith!
